Publix announced the next chapter of its growth: a huge expansion that will generate about 700 new jobs in Lakeland. With its first store opening in Winter Haven in 1930, Publix has since established itself as the largest employee-owned chain in the country.
Their rapid growth has had them already expanding into additional states. Along with opening more stores throughout its Southeast locations in Virginia and the Carolinas, Florida continues to be home to the highest number of stores and continues to reengineer its existing locations.
Publix CEO & President Todd Jones, Gov. Rick Scott, and Lakeland Mayor Bill Mutz were all a part of yesterday’s official announcement and gave remarks regarding the opportunities that will be produced through Publix’s continued growth.
This upcoming expansion highlights Publix’s continued commitment to providing the best experience to both its associates and customers.
Originally constructed in 2001, the planned expansion to their headquarters will break ground in late 2019.
