Taiyaki is a Japanese-style waffle with a sweet filling.

Wafu is Lakeland’s first Taiyaki stand owned by Lakelanders Benjamin Paniagua and Zack Allam.

The idea for Wafu came to Zack and Benjamin when they visited Japan and discovered a delicious street food treat called Taiyaki. Taiyaki is a sweet, fish-shaped waffle traditionally filled with anko or sweet red bean paste. The dessert is believed to have originated in Tokyo and is over 100 years old.

This Friday, 8/28, from 11am-2pm you can taste Wafu’s Taiyaki treats by attending their pop-up which will take place at Catapult’s pop-up window and will include two other vendors, Mk Boba and Omusubee.
