Once a month, the Polk Museum of Art hosts their film screening series, The Art of Film. This entertaining, engaging, and educational event involves watching arts-related independent films, followed by a Q&A facilitated by faculty from Florida Southern College and the film directors.

On Saturday, June 22, Morvern Callar as directed by Lynne Ramsay, will be screened as this month’s feature film. The film follows Glasgow clerk Morvern Callar (Samantha Morton) as she navigates through life after her boyfriend commits suicide. Callar finds and publishes her boyfriend’s novel as her own; then goes on a surprisingly emotional journey while on a Spanish vacation with her best friend, Lanna (Kathleen McDermott).

This is a free event with a cash bar. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the introduction and film screening beginning at 6:30. For more information on the film and event, visit the Facebook event page here.
