Not that we need another made-up holiday to give us a reason to indulge in a celebratory drink, but International Beer Day does give us another excuse. International Beer Day was founded in 2008 and has since been celebrated annually on the first Saturday of August by beer advocates and novices alike.
According to the International Beer Day website, the purpose of IBD is three-fold:
- To gather with friends and enjoy the deliciousness that is beer.
- To celebrate the dedicated men and women who brew and serve our beer.
- To bring the world together by celebrating the beers of all nations and cultures on this one remarkable day.
All sound like great reasons to jump in on the festivities. So, gather your friends, support your local brewery, and raise that pint as we give a toast to the greatness that is beer – a special drink that transcends cultures and just simply tastes good.
