Beginning Monday, April 2o, Lakeland’s first drive-thru COVID-19 testing facility will be open to the public at RP Funding Center. This effort is the product of a collaboration between Lakeland Regional Health and the City of Lakeland.

“As one of the city’s leading healthcare providers, we take very seriously our commitment to ensure the safety and well-being of our patients, families, and residents,” said Danielle Drummond, MS, FACHE, Lakeland Regional Health President and CEO Elect.

To safely and efficiently serve the community, patients need an appointment made by a physician’s order to be seen at the testing center. Patients with existing healthcare providers can have their doctors email an order for COVID-19 testing to (CentralScheduling@myLRH.org) or fax (863.687.1106). If a patient has not already visited a primary care physician or another provider, they can be seen via Lakeland Regional Health’s new, dedicated COVID-19 Telehealth Service, which launches Sunday, April 19.

Once a patient arrives at the RP Funding Center parking lot, they will follow signs to complete their appointment at three stops: check-in, registration,  and swabbing.

The appointment should only take about 15 minutes, and all patients will be asked to wear a mask. The testing center will be open weekdays for as long as Lakeland Regional Health has a good supply of testing kits.

Mayor Bill Mutz recognized concerns of potential COVID-19 victims saying, “We are grateful for the excellent tolerance of Lakeland citizens during this restrictive crisis…. Working alongside Lakeland Regional Health, this Drive-Thru Testing Center will give citizens safe and simple access to a COVID-19 test.”
