True MedSpa, The Premier Salon & Spa provides a custom-tailored experience that meets the unique needs of each client.

Many would support the saying, “Look good, feel good.” There’s a certain confidence that is instilled within us when we face the day knowing that we simply just look good. Beauty is much more than skin deep. There are connections between how our outer appearance can greatly affect our self-esteem and overall well-being. Looking good and feeling good can change how we see ourselves and choose to present ourselves each day.

This is not at all to say that we should only care about our outer appearance. But rather, it’s a reminder that investing in outer beauty is also investing in one’s inner beauty, too. “The better you feel about yourself, the better you look,” says Lisa Birket, CME (certified medical electrologist) and director of True MedSpa, Lakeland’s Premier Medical Spa. Birket emphasizes how the services offered at True MedSpa strive to care for the totality of their clients. “Inner beauty is just as important as outer beauty,” she says.

Beauty cannot be judged objectively. Our ideas of beauty vary from person to person, and how we perceive beauty within ourselves cannot be defined by any other. “If a client asks, ‘What do you see that you would change about me?’ we never answer that. We really try to encourage that they make that decision,” says Birket. “People have different feelings about how they look, and it’s important to establish where they are coming from to be able to treat them fully.”

Medical spas have gained massive popularity in recent years. They offer a unique blend of a relaxing spa experience while also providing the results from procedures and expertise typically only found at a doctor’s office. The experience at a medical spa and what they offer varies greatly based on what they value and choose to invest in.

True MedSpa first started out as a small medical spa adjacent to Gold’s Gym on South Florida and has since evolved into a full-service salon, spa, and medical facility with an extensive list of offerings to suit anyone’s beauty, health, and wellness needs. Their offerings include facials, chemical peels, permanent makeup, injectables, laser treatments, cryotherapy, body sculpting, hair and nail services, as well as massages.

“Our number-one goal here at True MedSpa, The Premier Salon & Spa is to take care of every client’s needs as well as to create an experience like no other.”

With the recent expansion to their new location at 4935 Southfork Drive (just behind the South Florida Avenue Bonefish Grill), True MedSpa is able to provide a full-service experience between their Medical Spa, The Premier Salon, and Day Spa. “We are now able to
accommodate all of your needs in one visit at one location,” says Birket.

Although their facility is now bigger than ever, they have not compromised the quality of their service to make it happen. Since they offer a wide range of services, it’s a priority for Birket and the staff at True MedSpa to be knowledgeable in their area of expertise. “All of our providers are licensed professionals, and all of our staff are provided with product knowledge and hands-on didactic training,” says Birket.

Being in an ever-evolving industry, True MedSpa values the importance of continuing education and seeks to stay ahead of cutting-edge treatments. “Our number-one goal here at True MedSpa, The Premier Salon & Spa is to take care of every client’s needs as well as to create an experience like no other,” says Birket.

These are only a few of the many services that True MedSpa has to offer. Between their Day Spa, MedSpa, and Premier Salon, True MedSpa provides clients with an opportunity to pick and choose the treatments that best suit their individual needs. “Everyone should be able to define their own beauty, and we want to provide everyone with the products and services to do that,” says Birket.

No matter what service you end up going in for, from the moment you enter through the doors of True MedSpa until the moment you leave, you are guaranteed to be treated to a superior experience that is intentionally tailored to meet your needs and illuminate the beauty that already resides within you.

[item title=”Cryotherapy”]

Cryotherapy is a technique where the body undergoes a treatment in extremely cold temperature for up to three minutes. It’s a great treatment for athletes and those recovering from inflammation, and for dealing with joint or muscle pain.

Unlike many other spas, True MedSpa offers a head-to-toe, whole-body cryotherapy chamber. The theory behind this type of whole-body therapy is that by immersing the body in extremely cold air, there are a multitude of health benefits that can follow.

“You can burn 500 to 800 calories in three minutes. It helps fight wrinkles and cellulite. It helps with circulation, psoriasis, eczema, rheumatoid arthritis… You also have a lot of energy afterwards,” says Birket.[/item]

[item title=”Resurfacing Lasers”]

Loss of collagen, a protein that is responsible for maintaining the firmness and youthfulness of the skin, can eventually result in the skin losing smoothness and forming discolorations, lines, and wrinkles. Laser resurfacing can help in reversing some of these effects by building back up the collagen reserves. “The treatment consists of micro laser peels and profractional laser resurfacing treatments to stimulate collagen so you can get new baby skin,” says Birket.

During a full field resurfacing treatment at True MedSpa, a laser initially scans the areas that are to be treated. A laser beam is then delivered to particular areas to eventually treat the skin by removing the outer surface of the skin that may be damaged from the sun and environmental pollutants, allowing a healthy layer to take its place. The procedure is helpful for reducing signs of aging and eliminating acne scars. [/item]

[item title=”Massages”]

Massages are not just a luxury. There are many reasons why people get them and many benefits from them. In addition to reducing pain and muscle tension, some studies have also found that massages can help relieve stress and anxiety, reduce depression, help you sleep better, improve your productivity, and boost your immunity. At True MedSpa, there are many different massage options to target any of these specific needs.

Deep-tissue massages involve applying firm pressure and slow strokes to reach the deeper layers of muscle and the connective tissue surrounding muscles. This type of massage is typically used to assist chronic aches and pain, as well as muscle injury and poor posture.

Swedish massages are one of the most common massage techniques. As a gentler option compared to a deep-tissue massage, Swedish massages are ideal for loosening up tight muscles caused by daily activities. At True MedSpa, these massages are tailored to the client’s preferences.

Sports massage therapy is geared toward athletes of every kind. It focuses on parts of the body that are overused and stressed from repetitive and often aggressive movements in order to help with recovery and overall performance.

Other massages offered include prenatal massages for the mommy-to-be, corporate (stress relief) massages. and hot stone massages. [/item]

[item title=”Injectables and Botox”]

As we age, skin becomes increasingly more susceptible to sagging and wrinkles. Injectable treatments are an effective, non-invasive alternative to cosmetic surgery. This is among one of the most popular anti-aging services out there, and True MedSpa offers many products to address not only wrinkles but lost volume in the skin that causes lines and furrows to form.

When describing these treatments, Birket references this analogy: “If you’re working out at the gym and you’re building muscle, the muscle gets bigger and bigger or firmer and toner. So if you are moving your eyebrows up and down, squinting, and moving your facial expressions around, the lines are going to get deeper and deeper.” This is where an injectable treatment comes in to help eliminate these deep facial lines in order to rejuvenate the skin and help you look more youthful and radiant.

In addition to treating wrinkles and fine lines, Botox injections can be used to treat hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating. Botox is used to prevent the release of the chemical that activates sweat glands, and results from this treatment can last up to six months. [/item]

[item title=”Facials”]

Although a good daily skincare routine is essential, every once in a while it’s important to leave it in the hands of the professionals. Facials are a great way to make sure you are truly taking care of your skin. They can smooth the skin, improve its ability to retain hydration, and even out overall skin tone.

Many different skin issues can arise, like acne, sun damage, and scarring. Being a skin clinic, True MedSpa maintains a higher level of education and expertise to treat any skin type and skin issue. “We know the science behind it,” says Birket.

Among the products True MedSpa offers during facial treatments is SkinCeuticals, a pharmaceutical-grade skincare line. “It’s a wonderful line, and it’s backed by science. Once you start the line, it’s a night-and-day difference in your skin,” says Birket. The product is customizable so that it suits any and every skincare need. “Not a lot of skincare lines can do that,” says Birket. [/item]
