Lakelander’s are invited to celebrate the life of Frank Lloyd Wright by attending a special 152nd Birthday Tour at Florida Southern College on Saturday, June 8.
The 152nd Birthday Tour tour sessions are docent-led and will be offered at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. The experience will introduce visitors to the stories and artistry behind Lakeland’s enduring connection to the great architect.
Home to 13 Wright-designed structures, Florida Southern College has the world’s largest collection of Frank Lloyd Architecture. The college’s Usonian Faculty House, which was constructed in 2013, was originally designed by Wright. The rest of the structures located on campus were built during Wright’s lifetime and under his supervision.
Each of the two-hour tours will feature special stops, including Usonian Faculty House tours by request, and will include a slice of birthday cake and coloring pages and stickers for children. Admission fees for the Birthday Tour are $35 per adult. Children 12 and under are free, and students older than 12 are $10.
