On March 15th, Sam Romero, an associate professor of art at Florida Southern College, will be hosting a conversation with designer/illustrator Marisol Ortega. The event will take place at Florida Southern College, Melvin Art Gallery, at 2:00 pm.

Ortega is a first-generation Mexican-American designer and illustrator currently residing outside of Seattle, Washington, Ortega graduated with a BFA in Design from The Art Institute of Seattle in 2008. She is heavily influenced by nature, working with her hands, and the many colors of Mexico.
Ortega’s work reflects an exploration of nature, her cultures, and a bright color palette with a modern take. Some of her clients include Starbucks, Real Simple magazine, Lost Type Co-Op, American Greetings, Papyrus, Unicorn Theatre, Canlis, Billson’s Brewery, and Planned Parenthood of America. Ortega is currently working on a mural for Starbucks Coffee Company. She loves spicy food, her family, and everything floral/fauna.
