Sara Roberts McCarley has been elected to represent southwest Lakeland on the seven-member City Commissioner board.
While opponents Bill Watts and Patrick Shawn Jones combined received about 25 percent of the vote, Sara Roberts McCarley took over 74 percent of the vote and won the vacated City Commission seat.
McCarley was quickly endorsed by area political action committees, even before the qualifying period for candidates closed.
According the McCarley’s campaign site, she says “…Lakeland is a force on its own. We have a great entrepreneurial spirit. We’re a community that is affordable and accessible. We have great assets, from the Civic Center to the start-up incubators. Let’s make these attributes known. ”
McCarley will assume her seat on City Commission at next Tuesday’s meeting.
