The Y offers a variety of programming for the whole family and community.

If you’re looking for a place for the entire family to engage in all levels of wellness, the Y of West Central Florida is waiting for you with programming for everyone, spanning from babies to senior citizens!

There are three local YMCA locations:

As well as having a variety of locations, the Y has offered the widest variety of wellness programs in the area for nearly 70 years. From swimming, basketball, racketball, golf, yoga, and more, there is a program option available for all members.

If you’re looking for traditional workout options, you can find a wide variety of weights and cardio machines at the Lakeland Family and Fontaine Gills locations. They also offer popular Les Mills classes, including RPM (spin), Body Attack, and Body Flow, as well as other popular group fitness classes such as Zumba, Barre, and Boot Camp. Personal trainers and health coaches are also available at an extra cost.

More interested in staying healthy by playing sports? Teens and adults can also get involved in pick-up basketball, swimming, racquetball, and golfing or foot golf at the Par 3.

One of the most convenient offerings for parents include the variety of children’s activities, as well as childcare availability for infants to teens. The newly renovated Teen Center on the second floor of the Lakeland Family Y offers a fun and safe place for teenagers to hang out after school.

Other available youth classes and programs include:

–       Gymnastics

–       Indoor and Outdoor Seasonal Sports

–       Swim Lessons – available for ages six months to 12 years old. Lessons are also available for children and adults with special needs.

–       Synchronized Swimming

–       Leaders Club – a youth leadership development club focused on community development and physical fitness.

–       Youth in Government – a youth leadership development club that teaches middle and high school students about the inner workings of government and how to write and pass bills.

All these program options are available for members (at a discounted price) and non-members. The Y also makes programming available for the entire community by offering scholarships for memberships and program fees.

The Lakeland Family location on Cleveland Heights also recently opened their Healthy Living Café with a variety of smoothies, sandwiches, and various health food options. Members can buy these at any time, and non-members are encouraged to stop by and try the new food options as well. While you’re there, be sure to take a tour of everything that the Y has to offer!
