On April 2nd the PEACE (Polk Ecumenical Action Council for Empowerment) will host its 19th Annual Nehemiah Action.

During this event, PEACE will seek commitments from local leaders to address the crisis of approximately 4,000 homeless children in Polk County schools and a commitment to fund additional counselors for indigent residents with mental health needs at Central Florida Health Care clinics. 

Officials who are expected to attend include County Commissioner Martha Santiago; Lakeland Mayor Bill Mutz, Lakeland City Commissioners Scott Franklin, Justin Troller, Stephanie Madden, and Phillip Walker; Winter Haven City Commissioners Brad Dantzler, Nathaniel Birdsong, and Peter Chicetto; Superintendent Jacqueline Byrd; and Winter Haven Police Chief Charlie Byrd.
