Honeycomb Bread Bakers continues to provide for their staff, the city, and the hearts of their customers, because we all need something sweet in our lives.

As the days go by, our local businesses continue to modify their hours and offerings. Honeycomb Bread Bakers has a reputation to think people first, product second, and that is one of the reasons Honeycomb Bread is so special to our community.

Benjamin Vickers, owner of Honeycomb, saw a need when Polk County Schools canceled classes due to COVID-19 for the safety of students and families. Immediately following the school closures, the Honeycomb team stepped up with a plate (see what I did there), and filled a need within our community by providing lunch to any student in need, no questions asked.

“Polk County public schools feed our kids 6 million breakfasts and 11 million lunches every year. Now, suddenly, schools are closed, and parents not only have to figure out childcare and education but how to provide the essential nutrients these kids need in their most formative years. If your kids need food while schools are closed, Honeycomb has your back with PBJs, and fresh fruit and veggies, made by hand for absolutely free, prepared in a clean kitchen and packed up to-go.šŸ“ Itā€™s the honor system, so please be honest with how many lunches you needšŸ˜…”

Honeycomb has now transitioned to serving their customers through online and in-person to-go orders and shifted their hours to Wednesday-Saturday 8am-3pm until further notice.

“No matter what, we are here for you as a little bit of normalcy in a wild, wild world.” – Benjamin Vickers

As you go into the weekend, be sure to stay safe, and, if you can, pick up your cup of tea, coffee, lox bagel, or savory or sweet fare and continue to #supportLkld, because we are all in this together.
