Today marks the 17th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks. We pause to remember the events of that tragic day as we honor the victims and their families. We honor the 9/11 heroes who stepped into action in the wake of this horror. We also honor our heroes in the U.S. Armed Forces and their families.

Among the trained heroes who serve our country, there were also heroic citizens who went above and beyond in trying to save lives and ultimately prevented the tragedy from becoming even worse. Shortly after terrorists flew airplanes into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York and into the Pentagon in Virginia, the 40 passengers and crew members on United Airlines Flight 93 fought a battle in the sky over Pennsylvania. Tom Burnett was one of those passengers, and here is his story: https://www.tomburnettfoundation.org/transcript.html.

” Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shattered steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve. America was targeted for attack because we’re the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining.”
-President George W. Bush
