After two decades of providing hair services in central Lakeland, Liquid Hair Studio looks forward to a bright future ahead in their new space.

In 2000, Jennifer Bourgeois opened Liquid Hair Studio in downtown Lakeland, and today the salon continues to service clients with top-of-the-line hair services and products.

“Over the past 20 years, the business has changed so much. I was only 23 when I decided I needed to open Liquid Hair Studio. At the time, being so young, I had no idea what I was in for,” says Bourgeois.

Liquid Hair Studio specializes in hair coloring; and although most salons would consider themselves top-of-the-line colorists, at Liquid, their tenure and happy customers speak for themselves. Bourgeois explains that their guests will often find hair color inspiration online and the stylists will “do their magic” to provide a special experience and personalized results for their customers

In addition to cuts and color, Bourgeois and the team highly recommend visiting the salon for a casual blow dry and styling session; adding a luxury conditioning treatment to the blow dry is always a plus. “Our guests are like family, and we want them to feel good [internally] as well as feeling and looking great [externally].”

During the pandemic, Liquid has seen an increase in women embracing their natural curls, including new clients eager to try the natural style who have filled the salon looking for advice to go on their personal natural hair journey.

“Our industry is forever changing. This is what makes what I do as a stylist exciting, and as an owner it makes me resilient,” says Bourgeois. She stays well studied in her field by looking for educational opportunities such as her experience in New York City, attending the Deva Academy.

This has been a challenging year for everyone, including business owners. It has meant a lot of pivoting and unforeseen decisions. This year, Bourgeois decided to downsize thinking in the best interest and well-being of the salon’s clients and staff. “We were faced with lots of challenges and risks. Working on a smaller scale will keep us safe and give us a minute to catch up to some kind of normal.”

As the team settles into the new space, and with the world’s unknown state due to the pandemic, Liquid Hair Studio is committed to making 2021 a great experience for guests. “I am proud to take a moment and downsize while my friends at Bella Visage expand into the space I called home for 20 years.”

Liquid Hair Studio remains optimistic and excited for the future ahead, with Bourgeois leading the way. She’s been in business long enough to watch the city grow and is excited to watch our community come together once again as life returns to normal.
